Dodge have just unveiled what they claim to be the fastest muscle car ever. The car in question is the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon which packs a whopping 840bhp and 770 lb-ft of torque 2.7ltr V8 engine.
The Demon is described by Dodge as their street-legal factory track car and will be up for sale later this year. Dodge have also claimed that the Demon is quicker than the Tesla Model S, and recorded a 0-60mph time of 2.1 seconds.
The other specs unveiled by Dodge are the following;
- Quarter mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph
- It accelerates with 1.8 g at the starting line, reaching 30 mph in just 1.0 second.
- Horsepower will peak at 6,300 rpm, whilst torque peaks at 4,500 rpm.
- Braking from 60 – 0 mph in 29 meters.
Only 3,300 will be built, 3000 for the USA whilst 300 will be exported to Canada. Dodge promissed it will be far less expensive compared to the Ford GT (in my opinion they can’t even be compared), and will be only available with an Automatic transmission (typical yanks). The SRT team behind this project is made up of about 25 people who have been working on the Demon for about two years. Buyers will get a three year warranty and a full day course at the Bondurant Racing School.
